 ABLAC

Australian Business Limited Apprenticeships Centre (ABLAC) is NSW's most experienced provider of Australian Apprenticeship* services. ABLAC has specialist knowledge, expertise and over ten years' experience in the signup processes and ongoing management of apprenticeships and traineeships.

Our services include assistance with all aspects of organising Australian Apprenticeships, advice on eligible incentives and entitlements, assistance with the incentive claims process and referrals to expert advice on award rates and other IR matters.

*Australian Apprenticeships is the collective name given by the Australian Government to traineeships and apprenticeships.

 Our background

ABLAC is a wholly owned subsidiary of the NSW Business Chamber (NSWBC).  Representing over 30,000 businesses, the NSWBC provides businesses with the information, advice, products and services they need to grow and stay competitive. It is through research, knowledge and policy achievements that NSWBC can offer support and resources to help members build a more prosperous commercial future.

Our member base has grown to over 5,000 full member companies and 23,000 associate members.

Australian Business Limited Apprenticeships Centre forms part of this business growth strategy, offering employers Australian Apprenticeships Services such as advice on training and Government incentives and assisting with the paperwork at no cost.

The strength of our organisation is supported by four corner stones – our Regional Councillors, State Councillors, the Board and employees. Our Councillors and Board members hold senior positions in their respective business community, bringing forward issues that concern their regions and ensuring that NSW Business Chamber meets the needs of its growing customer base.

NSW Business Chamber assists businesses of all sizes to manage their people and growth more efficiently.

Our people

Our people are the real source for our competitive advantage:

  • Our staff are experts in the management and support of apprenticeships and traineeships.
  • Our team of specialist field consultants visit your workplace at times to suit you and your employee/s.
  • We’re backed by NSWBC’s highly skilled professionals who provide hands-on assistance to identify your workplace challenges and help you sustain and grow your business.

Our relationship with government

We work under a contract funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).

DEEWR back the Australian Apprenticeships scheme making funds available for employers and apprentices trainees. We administer these funds on their behalf.

We lodge the Training Contracts with the State Training Authority (STA) for approval (in NSW this is the New South Wales Department of Education and Training (DET). The STAs make decisions about cancellations and suspensions and mediate where necessary (ABLAC and other Apprenticeship centres have no jurisdiction over dispute resolution).
